The Stephen Sondheim Society...

... is a registered Charity regulated by the Charity Commission (Registered Number 1142092). Our charitable aims are stated as being:

  1. To promote the public knowledge and appreciation of the works of Stephen Sondheim by such means as are charitable.

  2. To advance the public education in music, particularly but not exclusively, to young people by holding an annual music competition.

In practice we offer a great deal more than this and you can find details of our activities and offering to members on the Membership pages.

Trustees

The  Society is run by a Board of Trustees. All the Trustees are volunteers and bring with them a range of skills and experience to the running of the organisation. When a particular skill set is required, then the Trustees identify potential members who have such skills and discuss ways in which they can help either as an adviser to the board of Trustees or as an actual Trustee.

Each potential Trustee undergoes an induction programme prior to joining the board and ongoing training on the various roles, responsibilities and duties of a Trustee as recommended by the Charity Commission and the ICSA (Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Adminstrators) and the ICAEW (Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales).

The Trustees are supported by an Administrator.
