First look at Passion in the Hope Mill
Photographs have been released of Michael Strassen's new revival of Passion at Manchester's Hope Mill Theatre. The production, which opened on 5th May, stars Ruthie Henshall as the tortured Fosca, with Dean John-Wilson as her obsession, Georgio, and Kelly Price as Giorgio's lover, Clara.
From the Hope Mill:
"It is Italy in 1863, a country tired from civil war, where we meet our heroine, Fosca; her fragile, raw nerves inflame her melancholic ills. Fosca is a love-starved woman whose shredding raw nerves are about to thin to breaking point with the arrival of a sexy, handsome new soldier, Giorgio, but the dashing, chiseled Captain has a dark secret… he is stuck in an illicit, passionately clandestine affair in Milan with Clara – a beguiling beauty and a married woman with a child. This is only the foundation for this roller-coaster ride of dramatic emotion… an explicit, passionate exposé of how love smashes disparate lives and changes everything. Forever.
"Exploring the consequences of intense passion and obsessive adoration, Passion is a ravishing and thought-provoking look at the lengths people go to for desire."
Based on the film Passione d'amore by Ettore Scola.
