The Art of Making Art: Sondheim at the V&A

Updated: May 3, 2022

The Stephen Sondheim Society was pleased to collaborate with the Victoria and Albert Museum and the National Youth Music Theatre on an afternoon of informative chat, a performance masterclass and a cabaret.

Janie Dee (Follies, Putting it Together, Anyone Can Whistle), Rosalie Craig (Company, Sweeney Todd, Anyone Can Whistle) and Julian Ovenden (Sunday in the Park with George, Merrily We Roll Along) were in conversation with Matt Wolf, London theatre critic of The International New York Times, at the V&A on Sunday, 1 May 2022.

The discussion centred on the challenges faced when staging Sondheim productions. This was followed by a workshop with students from NYMT led by Janie, and a cabaret in which Janie, her guests and the NYMT students performed some Sondheim classics.
